Surfs Up at Lahinch!

Many people come from far and wide to hit waves at this beach (especially after that world record in 2006!). Other keen watersports popular in Lahinch include windsurfing, kite-surfing and diving.

If the weather allows, we suggest trying out some other water sports such as diving and snorkeling.

Seaworld Lahinch

Along the promenade is Lahinch Seaworld and Leisure centre, which used to house an Aquarium but is now is home to a great leisure facility for all the family. You’ll find an amazing pool and a large gym for all the fitness.

Classes include gym classes and hall classes in many different sports and interests such as Irish Dancing.

History around Lahinch

Around the area of Lahinch you’ll find many ruins, often part of several forts dotted around the area.

Our recommendation? One of the more interesting ruins you’ll find in the area is Dough Tower, which was once part of a castle and is a fascinating site.

Food and Drink

Lahinch boasts many great bars and restaurants, often along the waterside of the town or main street, serving pub grub or traditional Irish and European restaurant cuisine.

One of the best restaurants in the town is Tasty Station, serving many dishes including a daily special, traditional European food and of course the very tasty seaside special of fresh fish and chips.

For great pub grub, we recommend O’Looneys Bar and Waves Restaurant. Here, you’ll find great-tasting meals for all the family. Expect to find a great menu with different specials for each week.

It is a great place to go, for a relaxing dinner along the promenade in the town. The Gourmet Beef burger and Thai Vegetable Curry are definitely worth a look!

Other great restaurants around the tow include Vaughans Anchor Inn, where you’ll find great seafood dishes, VL restaurant, the Corner Stone, Barrtra Seafood restaurant and Danny Macs. All have great menus meaning you’ll be spoilt for choice!

For breakfast and lunch dishes, Dodi is a great cafe on main street where you’ll find a great lunch menu and quality coffee.
