Location

Take a boat journey to Skellig Michael on the Wild Atlantic Way and have the experience of a lifetime. Booking in advance is a must as the summer is the time when the water is calmer and the islands are accessible and extremely busy. The views from the top are breathtaking and it can be slightly breezy so don't forget a light jacket even on a good day. On the way back to Valentia you can see the varied bird life and sea seals up close on the other islands, the boat always stops and turns off its motor and this is quite a treat.

The Skellig Experience Visitor Centre helps you experience the Skellig Islands. The centre overlooks the islands and explores key themes to help with understanding these magnificent islands. The history of the monks and their life on the island is looked at as well as the underwater life of these islands. The exhibition also looks at the bird life on the island as well as the lighthouses that play such an important part of life on this part of the coast in Kerry.

The nearest beach is Glanleam and is just a 5 minute drive away.
